dormakaba closed its previously announced acquisition of Alliants this week and will bring the combined portfolio to The Hospitality Show in Miami on November 2-4, demonstrating at booth #3017 how integrated access control can cut technology silos in hotel operations.

The Swiss access solutions group, which generated CHF 2.8 billion in turnover in financial year 2025/26 and employs more than 15,000 people across over 130 countries, is positioning the deal as a way to give hoteliers a single partner for guest-facing digital services and physical access — without locking them into one vendor ecosystem.

"Hotels have more technology than ever, but guests should never have to think about the complexity behind it," said Darien Long, Senior Vice President, Specialty Access Control Solutions, dormakaba Americas. "Hoteliers need a trusted partner who can help them navigate that challenge without limiting their options."

What does the acquisition change for hotel operators?

The practical answer, according to dormakaba, is consolidation of systems that today often run separately: door hardware, mobile keys, guest messaging and staff credentialing. Long framed the deal explicitly around procurement flexibility: "Choice is at the heart of our approach. Properties should be able to work with the partners that best fit their vision, needs, and budget, while also having greater ability to deliver more connected experiences. By bringing Alliants into dormakaba, we can offer customers more ways to do exactly that."

Two products anchor the Miami demonstration:

  • dormakaba Digital Wallet — lets guests add a hotel room key to their device's digital wallet and tap to unlock not only their room but amenity spaces such as the gym, spa and business center. For operators, the system replaces plastic keycard issuance at the front desk and extends mobile access beyond the guestroom door.
  • dormakaba Staff Key Validator — a keycard management tool that uses multi-layer, PIN-based authentication. dormakaba says it reduces the front-line workload tied to staff keycard administration and limits exposure from lost, stolen or shared credentials.

Both systems address operational costs hotels measure directly: front-desk labor minutes per check-in, keycard replacement spend, and the security risk of uncontrolled credential sharing across shifts.

The company behind the demo

dormakaba is headquartered in Rümlang near Zurich and listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange under the ticker DOKA. The company describes itself as a global leader in access solutions, supplying integrated products and services that fit into broader building ecosystems, from smart entry systems to sustainable building-lifecycle offerings, through a distribution network serving customers in more than 130 countries.

The Alliants closing marks the first time dormakaba can present the acquired digital guest-experience capability alongside its core access hardware under one ownership structure at a major U.S. trade show. Attendees in Miami will see whether the integration lives up to the pitch.

The Hospitality Show runs November 2-4; dormakaba will demo at booth #3017.
