Artotel Group Takes Over Management of Two Wyndham Hotels in Yogyakarta

Sun Motor Group hands Artotel Group the keys to two Wyndham-branded hotels in Sleman, adding 260 rooms, a 1,000-guest ballroom and a 4.9-hectare action park to its portfolio.

Artotel Group has added 260 rooms and MICE capacity for up to 1,000 guests to its Central Java portfolio, after Sun Motor Group appointed it third-party operator of Ramada by Wyndham Yogyakarta and Wyndham Garden Yogyakarta Conference Hotel & Action Park in Sleman, Yogyakarta.

The two Wyndham-branded properties sit on Jalan Magelang KM 14, positioned between Yogyakarta, Magelang and Borobudur, and run on a resort-inspired-by-nature concept. For Artotel Group, a company already managing more than 100 hotels with over 10,000 rooms across Indonesia, the deal deepens a management footprint in Central Java that already includes Yogyakarta, Semarang, Magelang and Wonosobo.

The contract is a management appointment, not an ownership change. Sun Motor Group retains the assets; Artotel Group brings its operational playbook and, in the company's framing, an ecosystem spanning four business units — Stay, Dine, Play and Shop — across economy, boutique and luxury tiers under brands including ARTOTEL, DAFAM, MAXONE and ROOMS INC.

What does each property bring?

  • Ramada by Wyndham Yogyakarta: 171 rooms across seven categories, ranging from 24 sqm Deluxe and Executive Rooms to 26 sqm Premier Rooms and 38 sqm Suites.
  • Wyndham Garden Yogyakarta Conference Hotel & Action Park: 89 rooms across 12 categories, including villas with contemporary designs and Javanese influences pitched at privacy-seeking guests.

How big is the meetings business?

The two hotels operate nine meeting rooms with capacities from 50 to 300 guests, plus one ballroom holding up to 1,000. That inventory, paired with accommodation and recreation in one location, is aimed squarely at the corporate and conference market — and positions Sleman as a MICE destination in its own right rather than an overflow of central Yogyakarta.

The recreational anchor is Ibarbo Park, an action park covering nearly 4.9 hectares. Its facility list reads like a mid-scale sports complex: a semi-Olympic swimming pool, skatepark, BMX track, tennis courts, push bike area, rollerblading track, jogging track, fitness center and multipurpose community areas. For an operator, that amenity base is a menu-engineering play in the broadest sense — it lengthens stays, feeds group bookings and supports the integrated-destination pitch to families, leisure travelers and business guests alike.

Food and beverage runs through Sooji Restaurant, a glasshouse-style, all-day dining venue seating up to 100. The kitchen serves Indonesian, Asian and Western dishes to in-house guests as well as walk-in visitors, giving both hotels a shared F&B engine rather than duplicating restaurants.

What does this change for Artotel Group?

Chief Operating Officer Eduard Rudolf Pangkerego framed the appointment as both a vote of confidence and a synergy play. "We are optimistic about maximizing the potential of both properties by creating synergies between hotel facilities, business needs, and recreational activities within one integrated destination," he said.

He added that the group's regional network would underpin consistency: "Supported by Artotel Group's extensive hospitality ecosystem across Central Java and other regions of Indonesia, we are committed to delivering a consistent hospitality experience, strengthening the properties' competitiveness, and driving business performance."

The deal also extends a pattern in Artotel Group's growth model: beyond its own brands, the company is the strategic partner of France's Louvre Group in Indonesia, managing and developing international flags including KYRIAD, GOLDEN TULIP and ROYAL TULIP. Taking on two Wyndham-branded properties adds a third global brand family to that mix — and signals that third-party management of other owners' assets remains a core growth lever for the group.
