Wingstop Bets Twice on Football: Punch Card Follows Sold-Out $27.99 Wing Pass
Wingstop's Game Day Punch Card, live Sept. 21–Oct. 21, gives Club Wingstop members a free Watch Party Bundle after three buys plus $50 Ticketmaster credit, two weeks after its $27.99 Wing Pass sold out.
Wingstop launched its second football promotion of the season on Sept. 21, just two weeks into the NFL schedule: the Game Day Punch Card, which gives Club Wingstop members a free Watch Party Bundle after three bundle purchases, plus a $50 Ticketmaster Ticket Cash code while supplies last.
The offer runs Sept. 21 through Oct. 21 and lives entirely inside the Club Wingstop app. It arrives two weeks after the Dallas-based chain's first gameday loyalty play, the Wing Pass — an $27.99 package covering 18 Watch Party Bundles, one for each NFL regular-season week. Wingstop capped Wing Pass at 100 passes for Club Wingstop members, and they quickly sold out.
Both promotions share a structural logic borrowed from sports media: a season-long commitment in the case of Wing Pass, and a bundle of recurring purchase occasions in the case of the Punch Card. In effect, Wingstop is using football season to test subscription-style mechanics inside a loyalty program rather than running conventional limited-time discounts.
Why loyalty, and why now?
Club Wingstop launched nationally in May as the chain's first digital loyalty program. On its July quarterly earnings call, management said loyalty enrollments had already exceeded expectations by 22% and that members now represent nearly half of first-party digital sales.
Executives have framed the program as a personalization and frequency tool, not a discount engine — a positioning that matters for a chain whose margins depend on driving repeat visits without eroding check averages through blanket coupons.
What does this change for the operator model?
The Punch Card converts football viewership — a demand occasion Wingstop does not own — into three guaranteed bundle purchases plus a fourth free unit. The $50 Ticketmaster code adds a non-wing reward, paid for by Wingstop as an acquisition and frequency cost, while the free fourth bundle functions as a deferred discount contingent on repeat behavior.
For a chain leaning on first-party digital channels, the math is straightforward: members already account for roughly half of first-party digital sales, and each punch-card completion deepens app engagement during the highest-volume ordering windows of the fall calendar.
The sold-out Wing Pass, capped at 100 passes, suggests Wingstop is deliberately limiting supply to test price and demand before any wider rollout. A five-week Punch Card window ending Oct. 21 extends that experiment into the broader loyalty base.
If the Punch Card performs at the enrollment rates the loyalty program has posted since May, Wingstop will enter the second half of the NFL season with hard data on whether subscription-shaped promotions can replace traditional discounting across its system.
