The Hoxton to Open 188-Room Hamburg Hotel in Summer 2027
The Hoxton Hamburg will open 188 rooms on Alter Wall in summer 2027, with a rooftop seafood restaurant and events space, as the brand adds Oslo and Madrid the same year.

The Hoxton will open a 188-room hotel in Hamburg in summer 2027, its second property in Germany after Berlin and its third in the German-speaking region alongside Vienna.
The hotel will occupy a 1950s building on Alter Wall in the Nikolaiviertel district, with accommodation and hospitality spaces spread across ten floors. Guestrooms will sit on the first to eighth floors across six categories, including the brand's Cosy, Roomy and Biggy formats. Of the 188 rooms, 32 will be interconnecting, a configuration aimed squarely at families and travelling groups — a segment where multi-room bookings can lift occupancy per reservation without adding key count.
The food and beverage offer is built to carry revenue across dayparts. A Mediterranean-inspired ground-floor restaurant will trade throughout the day, and a rooftop seafood restaurant with a wraparound terrace will overlook the Elbphilharmonie, St Michael's Church and Hamburg Town Hall. An all-day lobby bar and a private dining room seating up to 20 guests complete the F&B mix, giving the property multiple revenue streams beyond rooms in a market where lifestyle operators increasingly depend on F&B and events to protect margins.
Meetings and events capacity comes via The Apartment, The Hoxton's established group-events concept, comprising three meeting rooms, a pantry kitchen and a private terrace overlooking the canal. That format converts ground-floor and mid-building space into bookable inventory, a core economics play for the brand's open-house model.
Swedish studio Stylt Trampoli is designing the interiors, drawing on the history and architecture of Alter Wall and the surrounding neighbourhood. Public areas will mix vintage and bespoke furniture with work by local artists — a sourcing approach that reinforces the neighbourhood-led positioning lifestyle brands use to justify rate premiums over standardized full-service product.
Cédric Gobilliard, COO of Ennismore Europe, The Hoxton's parent platform, said: "We're incredibly excited to bring The Hoxton to Hamburg, a city known for its maritime character, thriving creative scene and vibrant cultural landscape. The city's mix of historic charm and contemporary energy, from its canals and neo-gothic landmarks to its thriving nightlife scene and groundbreaking modern architecture, makes it a natural fit for The Hoxton. We're thrilled to become part of the neighbourhood and bring the brand's distinctive take on open-house hospitality to the Nikolaiviertel."
Erik Florvaag, CEO and Managing Partner of The Chocolate on the Pillow Group, the local partner behind the project, added: "With The Hoxton, we're bringing one of Europe's most exciting lifestyle brands to Hamburg, a particularly attractive market for the hospitality industry in Germany. We're delighted to further strengthen our partnership in this exceptional location."
Hamburg fits into a wider acceleration for the brand. The Hamburg opening forms part of a 2027 pipeline that also includes new hotels in Oslo and Madrid, and follows a planned 230-room debut in Dubai Media City — the brand's first move into the Middle East. The German market is also drawing other lifestyle and alternative operators, with CityHub preparing a 139-hub property at Leipziger Platz in Berlin and REVERB Hamburg developing a music-led concept in a former WWII bunker, signalling sustained investor appetite for experiential product across the country's major cities.
