Placemakr Opens 87-Unit Tempe Property Under Hilton Banner
Placemakr opens an 87-unit Hilton-branded apartment-hotel in Tempe on Dec. 2, 2026, inside Silverstein's 722-unit Shorehaven, its second Arizona property.

Placemakr will open an 87-unit apartment-hotel in Tempe, Arizona, on December 2, 2026, its second property in the state and its seventh under the Apartment Collection by Hilton brand.
Bookings open a month earlier, on November 2, through Hilton's preferred channels. The property, Placemakr Tempe, Apartments by Hilton, sits at 1310 Vista Del Lago Drive inside Shorehaven — a newly built, 722-unit Class-A community from developer Silverstein Properties along Tempe Town Lake.
The structure of the deal matters as much as the opening date. Placemakr, a Washington-based tech-enabled operating company and real estate investor, converts multifamily buildings into hybrid assets that sell both nightly hotel stays and long-term residences from a single inventory. Here it takes 87 units out of Silverstein's much larger rental community and runs them as branded hospitality product, with Hilton supplying distribution, brand recognition and the Hilton Honors loyalty program.
What does the guest actually get?
The unit mix runs from studios to three-bedroom apartments, all newly constructed. Guests share amenities with the wider Shorehaven community: a resort-style pool, a game lawn, a clubroom and a fitness center. The site is minutes from Arizona State University's campus and downtown Tempe, and Shorehaven itself adds boutique retail, dining, entertainment and office space.
Hilton Honors members who book direct earn and redeem points and get instant benefits on eligible stays — the standard loyalty hook that ties Placemakr's apartment product into Hilton's global reservation system.
Why Tempe, and why now?
Placemakr CEO and co-founder Jason Fudin framed the expansion in market terms. "The greater Phoenix hospitality market has performed well over the past half decade, and demand for apartment-style stays is outpacing supply — so we're doubling down," he said. "Tempe is a natural fit for what we do, with a mix of business, university and leisure demand."
That demand mix is the mechanism behind the model. A university-adjacent, lakefront location produces leisure travelers, visiting faculty and corporate stays at different times of year, which smooths occupancy across seasons — the core economics of flexible-use inventory.
Jamison Divoll, vice president of development at Silverstein Properties, positioned the hospitality component as part of Shorehaven's original plan. "Shorehaven was envisioned as a dynamic, mixed-use community that brings together residential, retail, dining and hospitality in one of Tempe's most distinctive lakefront settings," she said. "Our partnership with Placemakr and Hilton is an exciting extension of that vision."
A growing collection
Placemakr Tempe joins a six-property Apartment Collection portfolio: Scout Living PCM in Atlanta, plus Placemakr-branded Hilton properties in Salt Lake City Downtown, Pittsburgh Downtown, Huntsville (Anthem House) and Austin Downtown. Each follows the same formula — apartment space and kitchens paired with hotel-grade service and loyalty benefits.
For Placemakr, the Tempe opening doubles its Arizona footprint and extends a partnership with Hilton that keeps scaling. With bookings live from November 2, the first hard test of Tempe's apartment-style demand arrives twelve months out.
