GuestCentric's Melissa AI Lifts Direct Booking Value 38%, Takes SiteMinder's Top AI Prize
SiteMinder honored 12 partners in London; GuestCentric's Melissa AI won the new AI prize after lifting direct booking value 38% across 300+ hotels and driving 40% of add-on sales.

GuestCentric's Melissa AI raised average direct booking value by 38% across more than 300 properties, and that single figure won the US company the inaugural AI Innovation Partner of the Year award at SiteMinder's 2026 Partner Awards, held Tuesday in London.
SiteMinder, the hotel commerce platform listed on the ASX as SDR, honored 12 hotel technologists and advisors at the ceremony. The company positioned the awards as evidence that the industry's AI conversation has moved from hype to measurable results.
That claim deserves scrutiny. SiteMinder supplied one verified metric set — GuestCentric's — and the remainder of the winners were recognized through category descriptions rather than audited figures. Still, the top prize carries numbers an operator can test against.
What did the top winner actually deliver?
Melissa AI answers guest questions and builds tailored stays in real time. Beyond the 38% lift in direct booking value, the assistant generated 40% of ancillary add-on sales across the same 300-plus property base.
Pedro Colaco, CEO at GuestCentric, framed the economics for independent operators: "Independent hotels have always had to compete for direct bookings against bigger brands with bigger teams, and Melissa AI helps to level that playing field. This recognition confirms what our hotels have been telling us: when AI can build a guest's stay and guide them through to booking, not just answer their questions, direct bookings grow."
The pitch targets a cost structure, not a novelty. Direct bookings cut third-party commission spend, and add-on attachment raises revenue per guest without adding headcount.
Who else won, and on what basis?
The Excellence Awards carried the most detailed claims:
- AI Innovation Partner of the Year: GuestCentric, for Melissa AI (38% direct booking value lift; 40% of ancillary sales).
- Revenue Partner of the Year: Journeytok, whose combined CRM and guest communications product automated up to 90% of repetitive guest journey tasks across more than 500 hotels in Europe and Latin America.
- Hoteliers' Choice Partner of the Year: HotelMider is incorrect — HotelMinder, for Lobby, a vetted network of more than 100 hospitality consultants offering independent hotels on-demand expertise.
- Rising Star Partner of the Year: ZHA Hospitality Holdings, which opened new distribution opportunities for more than 180 hotels in its first 18 months in the ecosystem.
Eight Performance Awards went to regional and functional leaders: Swiss Hotelier (Expert Partner, Americas), DigiStay (ANZ), Tom Inn Group (Asia) and TrevPAR World (EMEA), plus 3RPMS (PMS), Welcome Pickups (App), Nuitée (Distribution) and Noovy (Reseller).
Is the impact real or promotional?
The judges themselves acknowledged the credibility problem. James Bishop, Vice President of Ecosystem and Strategic Partnerships at SiteMinder and an awards judge, noted the breadth of entries: guest-facing assistants, conversational data tools, revenue intelligence, dynamic inventory and operational automation. He said entrants connected AI to hotel data and workflows rather than presenting it as an end in itself, and several described human oversight as part of responsible use.
Lisa Murphy, President of HEDNA and a fellow judge, put the caveat plainly: "There has understandably been a lot of discussion around AI and automation, and it remains hard for hoteliers to know what's meaningful versus noise. These awards help demystify all of that by recognising results rather than promises. Every winner this year could point to real outcomes. Just as encouraging is how accessible that impact is becoming."
Judges do not disclose their verification methods, and SiteMinder has a commercial interest in its ecosystem's success. The awards are open to the more than 3,000 technology providers and consultants in SiteMinder's partner network, which the company calls the largest in the hotel industry. SiteMinder says its platform generates more than 140 million reservations worth over AU$85 billion in revenue for hotel customers annually.
The 38% booking-value figure sets a benchmark competitors will now have to match or explain away.
