Fifty Group Buys Two Landmark Canberra Hotels
Fifty Group has acquired two landmark Canberra hotels in a deal brokered by HTL Property, extending the buyer's footprint in the Australian capital's supply-constrained hotel market.

Fifty Group has acquired two landmark hotels in Canberra, in a deal brokered by hotel investment advisory firm HTL Property.
The transaction transfers ownership of two of the Australian capital's most recognisable hotel assets to Fifty Group, expanding the group's presence in the Canberra market. HTL Property, which specialises in hotel transactions across Australia and New Zealand, acted on the sale.
Canberra's hotel market has attracted steady institutional interest in recent years, supported by government-related corporate demand, a limited supply pipeline and a visitation base that skews toward midweek business travel. Trophy assets in the parliamentary triangle and city core have traded at premiums to regional averages, and landmark properties with established operational histories rarely reach the open market.
The identity of the two hotels, the purchase price and the vendor were not disclosed in the announcement. HTL Property has not published transaction financials.
For Fifty Group, the acquisition adds freehold hotel assets in a market where barriers to entry are high. Operators holding landmark properties in Canberra typically benefit from pricing power across corporate, government and events segments, which supports rate growth in revenue per available room.
The deal signals continued appetite for well-located Australian hotel real estate despite elevated financing costs. Broker-led transactions of this scale generally involve stabilised assets with in-place management or franchise arrangements, allowing the new owner to underwrite income from day one.
Further detail on the assets, the management structure going forward and Fifty Group's broader portfolio strategy is expected to follow as the transaction settles.
