VDA Telkonet and Cloudbeds plan commercial availability of their guest-room integration for the first quarter of 2027. The integration is undergoing final technical certification, while VDA Telkonet, part of GEWISS Group, reports more than 1 million installed smart rooms across 9,500 properties in 60 countries.

The Nov. 3, 2026 announcement, datelined Pordenone, Italy, and San Diego, California, links Cloudbeds’ hospitality management system with VDA Telkonet’s guest-room and energy-management systems. The design uses check-in and room-assignment data to trigger room settings, reducing manual coordination between reception and in-room technology.

“Hoteliers should be able to choose the technology that fits their property and have it work together in daily operations,” said Sebastien Leitner, vice president of partnerships at Cloudbeds. “Connecting VDA Telkonet with Cloudbeds brings that principle into the guestroom, helping teams coordinate room settings with check-in activity and spend less time managing the steps in between.”

Ferose Ahamed, VDA Telkonet’s global solution proposition manager, said the company has almost 50 years of experience and recently joined GEWISS Group. He said that placement strengthens VDA Telkonet’s position within a connected technology ecosystem.

“Integration has always been part of VDA Telkonet’s DNA,” Ahamed said. “With more than one million smart rooms installed worldwide, we’ve built our expertise on making different technologies work seamlessly together. Our partnership with Cloudbeds reinforces this approach, connecting guestroom intelligence with hotel operations to create simpler, more efficient and more intuitive hospitality experiences.”

What changes for hotel operators?

The integration is designed to replace manual handoffs between the front desk and in-room controls with automated actions tied to reservation activity. Cloudbeds PMS supplies check-in and room-assignment events to VDA Telkonet systems, which can trigger welcome scenes, temperature settings, access management and room-status updates.

  • Room readiness: Check-in and room assignment trigger welcome scenes, temperature settings and access management so the room can be prepared for arriving guests.
  • Connected front-desk operations: Door access, encoder hardware and room-status updates connect to Cloudbeds PMS, reducing repetitive steps for employees.
  • Responsive energy management: Occupancy status informs climate controls, linking guest comfort to energy-consumption management.

The operating case rests on labor efficiency and energy control. The companies say automation can reduce repetitive front-desk steps and help hotels manage energy consumption, but they disclose no labor-cost savings, energy-savings percentage, implementation timetable beyond Q1 2027, pricing or payback period.

The announcement does not specify whether hotels or VDA Telkonet will pay integration, subscription or hardware costs. Hotels seeking early access or technical requirements can contact their regional VDA Telkonet representative.

Cloudbeds, founded in 2012, says tens of thousands of properties across more than 150 countries trust its platform. The system combines operations, distribution, guest experience and revenue marketing, with tools to capture demand, grow direct bookings, optimize pricing and act on real-time intelligence.

It is designed to scale from independent hotels to large groups and multi-property portfolios. Hotel Tech Report has recognized Cloudbeds as a top hotel management system, PMS and channel manager for eight consecutive years.

VDA Telkonet provides energy-management systems and guest-room management systems for hospitality. GEWISS Group cites more than 80 years of combined R&D expertise and offers scalable, customizable, people-centric solutions intended to improve energy efficiency, guest comfort and operational performance.

VDA Telkonet’s installed base gives the partnership a broad potential deployment pool, but the announcement names no hotel groups or pilot properties. It also provides no benchmark figures for labor hours, energy savings or installation costs.

For hotel operators, the Q1 2027 release will put the partnership’s practical claims—less manual coordination and improved energy control—against measurable operating results.
