Pizza Inn Bets on Caramel Apple & Pretzel Pizzert for Holiday Season
Pizza Inn's Caramel Apple & Pretzel Pizzert runs systemwide Oct. 26–Nov. 27, with a $5 carryout Pizzert special aimed at holiday gatherings across buffet and DoorDash.
Pizza Inn will run its new Caramel Apple & Pretzel Pizzert systemwide from Oct. 26 through Nov. 27. The five-week window spans Halloween week and runs through Thanksgiving, placing the limited-time dessert squarely across three holiday occasions the chain wants to own.
The product is a menu-engineering play, not a novelty alone. It pairs sweet apple filling and caramel with a pretzel component that adds a salty, savory contrast. Pizza Inn frames the pretzel as the differentiator — a departure from the traditional caramel apple built for its signature buffet lineup.
What is RAVE saying about it?
"The best part of the Pizza Inn buffet is that there's always something new to discover," said Brandon Solano, CEO of RAVE Restaurant Group, Pizza Inn's parent. "We took the nostalgia of a caramel apple and turned it into a Pizzert that's fun, indulgent and unmistakably Pizza Inn. Because when you come to our buffet, predictable isn't on the menu."
Solano's quote is a marketing statement, and it should be read as one. It promises discovery but offers no unit-level economics, no traffic targets and no sales expectations for the item.
How is the item distributed?
The Caramel Apple & Pretzel Pizzert will be available through three channels:
- On the buffet, where it enters the core all-you-can-eat format
- For carryout
- Through online ordering, including DoorDash delivery
That channel breadth matters for a chain whose buffet is the anchor product. Buffet desserts rarely carry their own price. The carryout and delivery channels are where this item can generate incremental, individually priced transactions.
What does it cost?
The new Pizzert itself carries no stated national price. Each Pizza Inn restaurant is locally operated and independently owned — the system is franchised — so regular buffet prices vary by location. Pricing disclosure stops there.
Alongside the launch, Pizza Inn is promoting a $5 carryout special featuring its Chocolate Chip and Bavarian Cream Pizzerts. The company positions the deal as a shortcut for holiday gatherings — Halloween parties, Friendsgiving dinners and Thanksgiving get-togethers — where dessert would otherwise mean another recipe.
The $5 price point is the one hard number in the announcement. It undercuts what most standalone dessert purchases cost at casual-dining competitors, though Pizza Inn did not disclose margin or food-cost assumptions behind it.
What is not in the announcement?
The release gives no unit count, no systemwide sales figure and no measure of how past Pizzert flavors performed. RAVE did not say whether the item will return after Nov. 27 or become a recurring seasonal slot. Those gaps leave the strategic stakes of the launch unclear beyond the five-week window.
Customers can locate restaurants and buffet information at pizzainn.com, and place carryout or delivery orders through order.pizzainn.com.
If the item drives carryout volume at the $5 attachment level, RAVE will have a case for extending the Pizzert platform. Until the chain reports results, the launch stands as a seasonal test with undisclosed economics.
