Hilton has named Jeff Moore executive vice president and chief technology officer effective Oct. 26, tasking the former Uber engineering VP with accelerating the company's AI agenda. Moore joins directly from Uber, where he led 2,500 engineers globally as VP of software engineering, supporting products including Uber Eats and Uber for Business.

The hire closes a search Hilton opened in May, when President and CEO Chris Nassetta flagged significant AI opportunities ahead for the company. Moore will report directly to Nassetta.

"At a time of extraordinary change, Jeff Moore's deep technical expertise, operating experience and customer focus will help us move faster, harness AI and next-generation technology," Nassetta said in the announcement.

Moore brings more than 20 years of technology leadership to the role. Before Uber, he led engineering organizations supporting Amazon devices including Kindle, Fire TV and Alexa. He also held software engineering and operations leadership roles at Anheuser-Busch.

What does the new CTO inherit?

Hilton has already built an AI foundation the CTO will be expected to scale. The company began beta testing the Hilton AI Planner, an AI-powered trip planning tool, in March on top of its modernized technology platform, Nassetta said during the Q2 2026 earnings call in July.

Hilton has also partnered with Google, OpenAI and Anthropic to strengthen its AI capabilities. "We will continue to extend our technology advantage and utilize it to drive superior returns for owners and better experiences for our guests," Nassetta said on the call — a framing that ties the technology investment directly to unit-level owner economics rather than guest experience alone.

"I was especially drawn to Hilton's ambition to harness AI and next-generation technology to reimagine the guest experience and empower team members," Moore said in the announcement. "I look forward to working with Chris Nassetta and the leadership team to help shape the next chapter of innovation at Hilton."

Is Hilton an outlier on AI hiring?

No. Competitors are moving on parallel tracks:

  • Wyndham Hotels & Resorts began adopting AI agents to improve guest services in 2025.
  • Marriott International launched a multiyear technology transformation plan to support generative AI and agents.
  • The Walt Disney Company tapped Karandeep Anand as its first chief technology officer, leading enterprise technology, data and AI platforms.

The pattern reflects a broader shift: AI is drawing C-suite technology leaders closer to CEOs as financial ROI and enterprisewide strategy become decisive in whether deployments succeed, according to industry analysis.

Moore's appointment positions Hilton to convert its vendor partnerships and beta-stage AI tools into systemwide capability, with the new CTO accountable for delivering measurable returns to hotel owners.
