Habit Burger Puts Dipping Front and Center With New $10 Trio Boxes

Habit Burger & Grill is selling three dipping burgers in its CharBox format for $10, bundled with chicken bites, a side and a drink, as part of its evolving Gotta Habit value strategy.

Habit Burger & Grill has launched three dipping-oriented burgers at a $10 price point, bundling each with five crispy chicken bites, a side, a regular drink and a dipping sauce under its Gotta Habit Meal Deals platform.

Each Dipping Trio Box features a burger cut in half and served in the brand's signature CharBox, with dipping sauce in the center. The format turns the chain's sauce lineup into the menu item itself rather than a condiment on the side.

The three builds are:

  • BBQ Dipping Trio Box: two dippable burger halves with melted American cheese, pickles, mayonnaise, barbecue sauce and crispy onion tanglers.
  • Ranch Dipping Trio Box: two halves with melted American cheese, pickles, chunky avocado and housemade ranch.
  • Spicy Dipping Trio Box: two halves with melted white American cheese, pickles, pickled jalapeños and a creamy spicy mayo.

Sides include French fries, tempura greens or sweet potato fries. The boxes run for a limited time at participating locations.

"People dip their fries. They dip their chicken. So, we thought, why should the burger miss out?" Executive Chef Jason Triail said in a statement.

What does this change for Habit's value strategy?

The launch extends a value architecture Habit has been building since last summer, when it introduced Gotta Habit Meal Deals at three price tiers: $6, $8 and $10. High demand led the fast-casual burger chain to extend the limited-time run by October. That promotion has since ended, and in August the company added a $9 Gotta Habit Box Deal to the menu.

The new $10 Trio Boxes give the top of that ladder a differentiated product rather than a straight discount — a dipping format that other burger chains do not currently offer at that price.

Why sauces are driving menu engineering

The bet rests on documented consumer behavior. Technomic's Flavor Consumer Trend Report finds that 34% of consumers consider what sauces and condiments are available when deciding which restaurants to visit. For operators, that makes sauce development a lower-cost lever for menu differentiation than new proteins or equipment.

Habit is not alone in testing sauce-forward burgers. Applebee's introduced its O-M-Cheese Burger in January at $11.99 — a burger served over queso mixed with melted cheese in a Sizzlin' Skillet — and it became the chain's highest-selling burger ever. In April, Applebee's extended the concept with the O-M-Cheese-adilla Burger, a quesadilla burger served in molten cheddar and white queso.

French Dip Burgers have also appeared on menus for years, indicating sustained demand for dunking formats across segments.

For Habit, the Trio Box format moves sauces from the condiment station to the center of a $10 bundle, aligning the chain's value platform with the dipping trend. Whether the format earns a permanent slot will depend on how the limited-time run performs against the $9 Box Deal and the original meal-deal tiers.
