Embergrove Takes Over Hotel Pattee in Perry on December 1
Embergrove Hospitality Group takes over Hotel Pattee, a 40-room Perry landmark from 1913, on December 1, 2026, in partnership with the City of Perry. Deal terms and staffing plans were not disclosed.

Embergrove Hospitality Group assumes management of Hotel Pattee on December 1, 2026, under a partnership with the City of Perry, Iowa. The announcement, dated November 6, did not disclose contract length, management fees, or staffing plans.
The property is a downtown Perry landmark that opened in 1913. It holds 40 individually themed guest rooms and suites. Each room draws on Iowa's people, industries, and cultural traditions through its artwork and furnishings. The hotel operates a restaurant and lounge, a library, a bowling alley, and event space for weddings, meetings, and community gatherings.
Who is Embergrove Hospitality Group?
The company is based in Mason City, Iowa, and grew out of Stoney Creek Hospitality. It manages a portfolio of hotels, resorts, and conference centers across the Midwest. Its stated capabilities span hotel operations, sales, marketing, revenue management, and food and beverage.
Two Iowa properties anchor that portfolio:
- The Historic Park Inn Hotel in Mason City, the last remaining hotel designed by Frank Lloyd Wright
- Honey Creek Resort on Rathbun Lake
Embergrove describes itself as owner-focused and performance-driven. It says it helps hospitality assets achieve sustainable growth and stronger financial performance. Those claims come from the company itself. No independent performance data accompanied the announcement.
What did the operator say?
Katie Wienen, chief operating officer of Embergrove Hospitality Group, framed the assignment as a preservation task as much as a commercial one.
"You can learn something about Perry just by walking down the hall at Hotel Pattee," Wienen said. "We're looking forward to working with the hotel team and the City of Perry to care for what makes this place special and welcome more guests to downtown Perry."
The statement commits to collaboration. It does not commit to a renovation budget, a rebranding plan, or changes to the hotel's food and beverage operation.
What is not in the deal terms?
The City of Perry is a named partner in the management arrangement, which suggests some form of public stake in the property. The announcement does not explain whether the city owns the hotel, how the contract was awarded, or what performance targets apply. Revenue figures for Hotel Pattee were not published.
For a 40-room independent property with a restaurant, lounge, and event business, food and beverage and banquet revenue will matter as much as room revenue. The release names Embergrove's F&B expertise as a capability. It stops short of announcing any menu, pricing, or staffing decisions for the restaurant.
Reservations run through hotelpattee.com. Company information sits at embergrovehospitality.com. Tessa Hansen, director of marketing, handles media inquiries.
Embergrove says it continues to expand through strategic partnerships with hotel and resort owners across the Midwest. The Perry deal, adding a themed historic property to a portfolio that already includes a Wright-designed hotel and a lakeside resort, extends that pattern. The first test comes December 1, when the company takes the keys and its results, not its capabilities list, begin to speak.
