Chipotle, McDonald’s and Sonic anchor a wide holiday menu rollout

Chipotle brings back brisket, McDonald’s adds indulgent drinks, Sonic moves toward Christmas, and Just Salad develops a protein-heavy salad with Knicks star Jalen Brunson.

Four pizzas now arrive as one menu item at Via 313, part of a fall rollout that also includes Chipotle’s returning brisket and McDonald’s new indulgent drinks. Most chains have already rolled out their Halloween menus, while some concepts are moving ahead to Christmas.

Which releases arrive before their holiday?

  • Andy’s Frozen Custard has special treats for the weekend, making it the exception to the broader Halloween rollout.
  • Freddy’s is offering new Hershey-oriented items through early next year.
  • Scooter’s Coffee and Sonic Drive-In are among the chains jumping ahead to Christmas.

Those schedules put two different promotional windows on the calendar. Freddy’s extends its seasonal run beyond Halloween, while the Christmas concepts start before the holiday itself.

How are New York chains using the calendar?

New York City-based Just Salad is focused on basketball rather than the holidays, with a salad developed in collaboration with New York Knicks superstar Jalen Brunson. The tracker highlights the salad’s high protein content but provides no name, price or ingredient list.

Another New York-based chain, 7th Street Burger, has added a new garlicky item. The announcement does not let operators calculate that item’s ticket contribution or food cost.

Which drinks anchor the seasonal push?

McDonald’s has added indulgent new drinks, but the tracker names no beverage, price or size. The chain’s check-average and gross-margin effects therefore remain unmeasured.

The Great Greek has a new lemonade-based “refresher,” and Islands has a seasonal variation on its Mai Tai. Both changes put drinks at the center of the seasonal offer, where price and purchase mix determine the return.

Where else are seasonal menus rolling out?

Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar, Margaritas Mexican Restaurant, Farmer Boys, Logan’s Roadhouse and Taco Cabana have added new seasonal lineups. The tracker does not identify individual dishes or prices, leaving their ticket and margin effects unknown.

Which core menus are changing?

  • Chipotle is bringing back brisket.
  • Jollibee has new honey-garlic options.
  • Mountain Mike’s Pizza has pepperoni pizza with hot honey.
  • Via 313 has combined four pizzas into one, putting several pizza concepts on a single item.
  • Pollo Campero has new sauces and now offers its original sauce with whatever the customer chooses.
  • Velvet Taco’s Weekly Taco Feature is inspired by Korean fried chicken.

The menu engineering varies by chain. Chipotle is recycling an item, Jollibee is adding a honey-garlic offering, and Velvet Taco is using a weekly slot for a Korean fried chicken-inspired flavor.

Only the Via 313 launch offers a clear quantity signal: four pizzas, one item. The tracker does not disclose prices, so it cannot establish whether the bundle lifts the check average or changes food costs.

What does this change for operators?

For now, it changes the product calendar, not any documented financial result. The tracker provides no prices, sales mix, ingredient costs, labor percentages, store counts or company-operated-versus-franchised breakdown.

That leaves operators without the figures needed to size the margin or check-average effect of a returning entrée, a protein-focused salad, new drinks or a bundled pizza. The next checkpoint is sales and margin performance after launch, not another announcement; these releases establish an early seasonal push without proving its return.
