Shevet Achim to Open 98-Room Reef Resort in Ashkelon in March 2027

Shevet Achim Group will open the 98-room Reef resort in Ashkelon in March 2027, with a 30-treatment-room spa and multiple concept restaurants, as part of a three-resort expansion.

The Shevet Achim Group will open a 98-room beachfront resort in Ashkelon in March 2027, part of a three-property push to build a national resort chain in Israel.

The property, called Reef, will span roughly 6,000 square meters of built hotel space alongside approximately 14,000 square meters of public areas. All 98 rooms face the sea. Izik Levi Architects Office is handling the design, according to renderings released by the group.

Reef is one of three active projects for Shevet Achim. The group is simultaneously expanding Dream Island Resort near Kibbutz Sde Yoav and planning a second resort at Migdal Beach on the Sea of Galilee.

What does the resort include?

The spa complex anchors the property with roughly 30 treatment rooms and a wide wellness inventory:

  • A hammam, saunas and an indoor pool
  • Salt rooms
  • A hyperbaric chamber
  • Ice baths
  • A VIP area

Outside the spa, the resort will operate a gym, padel courts and a Pilates studio.

Rooms will use smart-room systems that let guests control lighting, air conditioning, electricity and room service through a single app — a technology play that replaces traditional in-room control panels and front-desk service calls. Interior design draws on raw marine materials, specifically wood and stone.

How is the group building the food program?

Culinary operations will take a multi-concept format rather than a single main restaurant. Plans include an Asian restaurant, an Italian restaurant and a sea-facing rooftop combining a pool and bar. The format spreads spend across dayparts and price points, positioning F&B as a revenue driver rather than an amenity.

Why Ashkelon?

Ashkelon is not an established Israeli resort market, which makes the location the bet in the deal. Yehuda Yifrah, one of the owners of the Shevet Achim Group, framed the opening as a deliberate growth strategy.

"The transition to a network of resorts is a natural step in the group's development," Yifrah said. "We bring international hospitality experiences, innovation, design, and a high standard to the Israeli hotel world — with a unique identity and story for each complex."

Yifrah said the move reflects confidence in Israeli tourism demand and described adapting international standards of hospitality, design and culinary experience "to the character and DNA of each area — from the South with the beach in Ashkelon to the North on the Sea of Galilee."

With three properties moving in parallel — a new-build on the southern coast, an expansion near Sde Yoav and a planned resort on the Sea of Galilee — Shevet Achim is positioning itself across Israel's southern and northern leisure markets before the March 2027 opening sets the template.
