OneJourney has partnered with WEX to launch SwiftPay, a commercial card program that converts independent hotels' everyday supplier payments into cashback — at zero added cost to the property.

The Miami Beach-based company, operated by Hotel Direct, LLC (d/b/a OneJourney and Swift Services), provides the hospitality-facing software. WEX supplies the financial plumbing: it originates the commercial card accounts, extends credit lines, and handles transaction authorization, funding, billing and servicing.

WEX isn't a small bet. The company already powers 50% of all virtual card payments in the travel sector and processed $237B in total volume across all its business segments in 2025. That scale gives OneJourney's hotel clients bank-grade issuing infrastructure they couldn't realistically build or buy on their own.

What does SwiftPay actually replace?

Independent and boutique hotels run heavy vendor payment volume — technology providers, maintenance services, food and beverage distributors — and much of it still moves through manual, paper-based processes. SwiftPay swaps that workflow for:

  • Virtual commercial cards issued per payment
  • AI-driven invoice matching
  • Automated reconciliation
  • Transparent spend reporting
  • Cashback on eligible spend

The economics are straightforward. Hotels already pay these suppliers every day; the program redirects that existing spend onto rails that return a share of it as cashback, rather than adding a new cost line.

"Our hotel clients pay suppliers every day, but historically, that spending has been a source of operational friction rather than value," said Brian Dass, Co-Founder and CEO of OneJourney. "We are giving independent and boutique hotel operators a seamless way to convert routine accounts payable into a new source of revenue and automated efficiency."

Who pays, and who carries the risk?

According to the announcement, the property pays nothing and takes on no added risk. WEX carries the credit and issuing exposure; OneJourney monetizes through the payment layer itself. For operators, that means the decision hinges less on budget and more on whether the automation fits their existing accounts payable workflow.

"Connecting OneJourney directly to WEX's global issuing network puts virtual cards right into the daily workflow," said Jason Hancock, Managing Director of Global Travel at WEX. "It makes paying vendors faster and far more secure, while automatically tracking transactions from start to finish."

The pitch also replaces a fragmented stack — separate bank portals, manual checks, endless reconciliation — with a single interface, which is where the labor savings sit.

What comes next

OneJourney and WEX will scale the program across U.S. and European hospitality markets through the second half of 2026. For independent hotels, that rollout puts a payments revenue stream — long the province of brands and large management companies — within reach of properties that have historically left the payment layer to others.
