IHG Converts Six Yas Island Hotels Into Its Largest Vignette Collection
IHG has rebranded six Yas Island hotels as Yas World Resort, a 1,400-room complex that becomes the largest Vignette Collection property in the world, with 21 restaurants and bars.

IHG Hotels & Resorts has folded six hotels on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, into a single 1,400-room resort, making it the largest Vignette Collection property in the world. The complex, formerly known as Yas Plaza Hotels, now operates as Yas World Resort under IHG's Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio, which the company describes as the second largest of its kind globally.
The developer is Aldar, one of Abu Dhabi's largest property groups. The deal converts six existing hotels — Verde, Vista, Pulse, Horizon, Fairway and Haven — into one integrated destination with shared access to a private beach, six swimming pools, three spas, three kids' clubs, gyms, and padel, tennis and squash courts. Each hotel retains a distinct identity tied to its setting: Verde references the mangroves, Vista the bay, Pulse the motorsport circuit, Horizon the marina, Fairway the golf landscape and Haven extended stays.
The economics behind the conversion are not disclosed. IHG and Aldar have not said whether the six hotels closed during the rebranding, what the conversion cost, or how the revenue split between owner and operator is structured. What is clear is the scale: more than 1,400 rooms and suites and 21 restaurants and bars under one brand umbrella, a concentration that gives IHG significant F&B and loyalty-program volume on a single island.
What does the rebranding change for operators and guests?
Food and beverage is a core part of the proposition. The 21 outlets span breakfast and café service, family dining and evening concepts, distributed across the six hotels and shared resort spaces. The source does not detail average checks, covers or which concepts are new versus retained from the Yas Plaza era. Further enhancements to dining, wellness and sports are planned, though no dates or budgets appear in the announcement.
The new Cyan Beach gives guests a private shoreline with waterside food and beverage — a tangible amenity change rather than a branding exercise. Location remains the resort's main demand driver. Yas Island hosts Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, SeaWorld Yas Island and Yas Waterworld, plus Yas Marina Circuit, Etihad Arena, Etihad Park, Yas Links, Yas Mall and CLYMB Abu Dhabi. Theme parks, motorsport, live events and golf anchor the leisure demand that six branded hotels now capture collectively.
Loyalty economics matter here too. IHG One Rewards members can earn and redeem points across all six hotels, which pushes bookings into IHG's direct channels rather than third-party platforms for a substantial block of Abu Dhabi leisure inventory.
What did the executives say?
Haitham Mattar, Managing Director for India, Middle East & Africa at IHG, said the resort "marks a significant addition to IHG's growing luxury and lifestyle portfolio across the region" and called it "a strong reflection of the ambition shaping tourism in Abu Dhabi." He framed the move as reinforcing "our commitment to strategic growth with our owners and partners."
Aldar Hospitality CEO Kapil Aggarwal called the project "an important milestone in Aldar's hospitality transformation" and cited three concrete moves: reimagining six hotels as one connected resort, opening private beach access at Cyan Beach, and partnering with IHG to bring Vignette Collection to the island. He said the destination offers "greater choice, richer experiences and lasting value for guests and for Abu Dhabi's tourism sector." Neither executive quantified that value.
How does the brand's playbook apply at sixfold scale?
Vignette Collection properties follow two signature programs. "Memorable Rituals" ties arrival experiences to local culture; at Yas World Resort, guests receive a "Marhaba El-Saa" welcome rooted in Emirati heritage and a bespoke fragrance created with House of Artisans, Abu Dhabi, presented in a keepsake bottle. "Means For Good" pairs each hotel with a non-profit partner; here, handcrafted Emirati pieces are sold on site, with proceeds supporting local artisans under IHG's Journey to Tomorrow responsible-business commitments.
For context on IHG's broader position: the company runs 17 brands, more than 6,000 open hotels across over 100 countries, roughly 1,800 hotels in the development pipeline, and about 350,000 employees across hotels and corporate offices. Vignette Collection sits in its Luxury & Lifestyle division alongside Six Senses, Regent, InterContinental, Kimpton and Hotel Indigo.
The announcement stresses scale and ambition, but it omits the numbers an operator would want: occupancy targets, average daily rates, refurbishment capital or a timeline for the promised enhancements. What is on the record is a single fact of real weight — one owner, one operator agreement and 1,400 rooms now consolidated under the fastest-scaling luxury soft brand in IHG's portfolio. Further dining, wellness and sports upgrades are planned, and the resort's ability to convert island tourism demand into brand-level loyalty revenue will be the measure Aldar and IHG watch next.
