Coravin Guide Adds Brisbane, Pushing By-the-Glass Discovery Into Queensland

Coravin's by-the-glass venue guide has landed in Brisbane with 20-plus Queensland venues, as Australian glass listings grow and 54% of drinkers buy more by the glass.

Coravin has expanded its by-the-glass venue guide to Brisbane, the Gold Coast and surrounding areas reaching down to the Northern Rivers of NSW, adding more than 20 Queensland venues to a platform that now covers 12 countries and more than 25 cities.

The Coravin Guide launched late last year in a handful of major wine markets: London, Sydney, Melbourne, California and Milan. The Queensland roll-out is its latest expansion, and it arrives on the back of two data points that explain why the company is investing in discovery tools rather than hardware alone.

Independent research commissioned by Coravin last year found 54% of Australians surveyed are drinking and buying more wine by the glass than they were two years ago. A 2025 Wine Business Solutions report adds the supply-side picture: since 2021, the average number of by-the-glass listings in Australian venues has grown by one third.

What does the guide actually do for venues?

The platform ranks venues using a tiered rating system based on the breadth of their by-the-glass list. Ratings run from excellent up to an exceptional rating. A separate category, Greg's Hidden Gems, flags venues with a limited but high-quality by-the-glass selection that Coravin considers worthy of a visit.

Users can filter venues by region, style and specialty, and they can view each venue's full by-the-glass list online before they book. For operators, that means the guide functions as a marketing channel for glass programs — the same programs that Coravin's preservation systems make economically viable by letting venues pour premium bottles without wasting what's left.

Coravin founder Greg Lambrecht framed the expansion as an extension of that economics-driven mission.

"Our mission with Coravin has always been about freedom. The freedom to explore and drink whatever you want, when you want, without compromise," Lambrecht said. "We've rolled out The Coravin Guide all over the world to champion the venues that share this vision and bringing it to Brisbane was an absolute must."

He pointed to the strength of local lists as the reason Brisbane earned priority status in the expansion.

"From Cru Bar and Cellar, to Agnes, and Coda Wine Bar, there are so many world-class wine lists to enjoy. The Guide is our way of shining a spotlight on these amazing venues and making it easier for wine lovers to discover them," he said.

The Brisbane launch is live now at guide.coravin.com, with the Queensland venues joining the existing international roster. Given the sustained growth in glass listings across Australia since 2021, further regional expansions of the guide look likely as Coravin works to keep pace with how the market is actually drinking.
